All is well..

When Ignorance was Fine

I thought I’d learned something, but I really hadn't. Yeah... that’s a realization I get sometimes when I reminisce on my childhood memories. And, I’m going to share some of these stories with you.

Story 1: Our “Pet” Freddie
I think it was when I was 4 or 5 years old. I was downstairs with my mom, it was before bedtime, I think and I was waiting for her so we can go upstairs. I saw my mother placing a reused ice cream container on our refrigerator. She’d just check whatever was inside. So I’d asked her what it was.
And, she’d said, “It’s our pet, we’re growing it.” We had cats back then but the idea of a new pet was exciting. "He's name is Freddie." She showed me what was inside the container and it looked like this:

She place the container back on top of our freezer and we went upstairs. Without anymore questions, I went with her. When, I asked her again, a few days later how Freddie was doing, she just said that he was gone.
Now, I think you know what was inside that container. But, if you don't then It's marinated meat. Apparently, we were growing Freddie just to eat him.

The Line Between Embarrassment and Amusement

Story 1: It WASN'T a Holler

Sometimes... make that often times, when I go to the mall with my family and they're browsing for clothes and shoes or when they want to buy soemthing and the store's too crowded for all of us to go in, I go to the nearest bookstore. I'm not a shopper so, I'm not very enthusiastic about clothes and shoes.I'd much prefer books and drawing materials over them. So, for this particular time, the nearest bookstore was FULLYBOOKED. At the time I was still interested in horror stories, and they were found at the farthest part of the store. So, I went there, opened one of the books, and the next thing I know, I hear my mother's voice: "Manang! Hanapin mo nga yung..." She was looking for me since she's done with her purchase and we were about to go home. She wasn't shouting for me, mind you. She was instructing Manang to find me.
So I closed the book, with a smile on my face, I turned to head back out the store, walking the 12 meters worth of distance and found my mother and our housekeeper at the entrance. Her normal voice had just traveled a full 12 meters. Up to this day, i still smile at the memory.

I'm going to be adding a
few more once I remember them.
If you want I can post your stories.
